The Passion of the Kmiec Revisited: WTF?

Doug Kmiec has, apparently, gone off the deep end. Seriously, I got nothing. In fact, this latest cry for attention is ... well ... just sad:
... Since he has returned, I’ve followed his curious posts on Facebook and Twitter. He consistently refers to himself in the third person as Ambassador, and posts these odd videos and photos of himself in his Ambassadorial role. But a few months ago, it got really weird. He started posting images promoting himself as Vice President in 2016.

At first I thought it may be some kind of joke, but it wasn’t. Then on October 6, 2013, he announced his “decision to run for vice presidency in 2016,” and noted that he had a “steering committee.” ...
Read more at "Pepperdine Law Prof, and former Ambassador to Malta, Doug Kmiec Seeks To Be Clinton’s VP. Huh?".

Please tell me I'm not going to have to start blogging about this guy again.

UPDATE:
Kmiec's Facebook page bears every indication that he's taking himself seriously in this regard. Sad, really.

And his support for Hillary's candidacy proves that Kmiec's decision to venture into the party of abortion-on-demand - the party that forces Catholic organizations like the Little Sisters of the Poor to violate their Faith - wasn't just a one-time fling with The One.

UPDATE #2 (27 January):
My friends Matthew Archbold at Creative Minority Report and Donald McClarey at The American Catholic have posted recent commentary on Kmiec's bizarre behavior:

Worst EVER Example of Godwin's Law in Action

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram needs to fire Gil LeBreton ... NOW!

There've been a lot of dubious comparisons to Nazi Germany thrown around over the years, but CANADA?!?!?!?!?

WTF?!?!?!?

I mean, CANADA?!?!?!?!? The country who fretted that cheering too loudly for a victory might be seen as rude? Oooooh, better get the International Criminal Court involved in that particular crime against humanity.

I admit that our neighbors to the north can be annoying in their "Don't confuse us with Americans!" self-righteousness, and their stellar gold-medal performance during the Vancouver Olympics made them even harder to take.

But comparing Canada's euphoria and patriotism in celebrating the achievements of its athletes to the Nazis during the '36 Olympics? What a dumbass! I've never liked LeBreton (or his fellow Star-Telegram sportswriter, Randy Galloway, for that matter), but now I know he's a complete and utter asshat.

Read this blog post for a stellar fisking of LeBreton's asshattery.

Madness

If anyone has an urge to kill someone at an abortion clinic, they should shoot me... It’s madness. It discredits the right-to-life movement. Murder is murder. It’s madness. You cannot prevent killing by killing.

~ John Cardinal O'Connor

Dr. Alan Keyes Going to Notre Dame to be Arrested: Calls on Pro-Lifers Nationwide to Join Him [UPDATED]

Idiotic posturing that is SURE to set back the pro-life cause:
... I will go to South Bend. I will step foot on the Notre Dame campus to lift up the standard that protects the life of the innocent children of this and every generation. I will do it all day and every day from now until the Master comes if need be, though it mean I shall be housed every day in the prison house of lies and injustice that Obama, Jenkins and their minions now mean to construct for those who will never be still and silent in the face of their mockery of God and justice, their celebration of evil.

If this be trespass, then forgive us our trespasses and join us in trespassing until the South Bend jail is filled to overflowing with witnesses to truth; filled beyond capacity; filled until we break the most onerous shackles of all- the ones that bind the heart and mind to evil and our nation to the path of its destruction.
While they're at it, perhaps Amb. Keyes and Randall Terry might want to lead their group of "martyrs" to raid the arsenal at Harper's Ferry.

As I noted the other day at The American Catholic:
I have to say that I’m uncomfortable with outside agitators like Randall Terry having a presence in South Bend on graduation day. Better to leave the protests on that day to folks actually associated with Notre Dame... By “folks actually associated with Notre Dame”, I’m referring, of course, to the faculty, students, and alumni who have spoken out against Obama’s being honored. They carry much more moral authority on the matter than publicity seeking outsiders like Terry (who was recently admonished by Abp. Burke for his grandstanding, by the way).

And I agree with M.Z. on the willingness of pro-lifers to be identified with the more extreme elements of our cause. To draw a historical analogy, John Brown probably did the Abolitionist cause more harm than good.

UPDATE (8 May)
In my opinion, this sort of activity isn't helpful, either.

The 70+ Bishops who have rightly and bravely spoken out against Notre Dame's decision to honor the President must be horrified to see the moral high ground they have staked out ceded by some of their pro-life "allies" who seem more interested in self-aggrandizing publicity stunts.
