Offensive

You know what I find offensive?

It's "offensive genius" Charlie Weis, whose offense is ranked dead last in the NCAA in pretty much every offensive category:
... The Irish offense is at or near the bottom of every meaningful NCAA statistical category. And the Irish defense isn't doing much better. ND has lost its past five games by 20, 27, 30, 21 and 38 points.

Against Michigan, which statistically has one of the worst defenses in the country, the Irish rushed for minus-6 yards. They averaged 1.4 yards per play. They fumbled six times and lost two of them. They threw two interceptions.

In the first half alone, Notre Dame committed three turnovers, gave up six sacks, committed five penalties, had minus-45 rushing yards, averaged 0.4 yards per play, had two snaps sail over the quarterback's head and gave up 31 points...

  • Scoring offense - dead last.

  • Rushing offense - dead last.

  • Passing offense - almost dead last.

  • Total offense - dead last.

  • I'm not sure about that last one - Notre Dame has been ranked # 1 in being totally offensive to my college football sensibilities for the past 3 weeks.

Come on! You mean Notre Dame can't do a better job than dead last in recruiting players to replace the starters on offense that they lost last year?

Or does Charlie's arrogance extend to his recruiting efforts? "What? Me? Recruit? I'm Charlie Weis. I'm an 'offensive genius'. Says so right there in the South Bend Tribune (hanging on my office wall from 2 years ago). Those recruits should be beating down the door to come play for me."

Like I've said for the past 2 weeks: on his worst day, Tyrone Willingham (fired after his 3rd season) didn't put as anemic-looking an offense out on the field as what Charlie Weis has put out there now for 3 weeks running.

    PATHETIC!
