College Football Saturday: What I Learned Today...

  • ... that this time next year, Lloyd Carr will be working the broadcast booth for the Big 10 Network;

  • ... that Mike Hart is a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate (which is why it is so completely inexplicable that he was on the bench for much of the 2nd and 3rd quarters);

  • ... that Chad Henne is NOT;

  • ... that the big boys might want to think twice before scheduling smaller, lesser-known football programs as non-conference opponents (see, e.g., Michigan vs. Appalachian State and Virginia Tech vs. East Carolina);

  • ... that regardless of Charlie Weiss' reticence about using the phrase, this is DEFINITELY a "rebuilding year" at Notre Dame;

  • ... that Charlie Weiss is NOT an offensive genius - Brady Quinn just made him look like one;

  • ... that on his worst day, Tyrone Willingham (of whom I was not a fan) didn't put as anemic-looking an offense out on the field as what Charlie Weiss put out there today - PATHETIC;

  • ... that I wish Urban Meyer were in South Bend rather than Gainesville;

  • ... that Ohio State is STILL the class of the Big 10;

  • ... that folks should look out for Ohio State next year - they're liable to be playing in the National Championship game once again in January 2009.
