Socialists Name Ice Cream Flavor After Comedy Central Personality

(Hat tip: Happy Catholic)

Let's see Fidei Defensor defend this:

Really, when you think of Stephen Colbert, dessert is probably not the first thing that comes to mind. However, Ben & Jerry's has unveiled their latest flavor of ice cream: 'Stephen Colbert's Americone Dream'. Though rumors had previously guessed that the flavor might be either 'a patriotic mix of strawberry, blueberry and vanilla flavors, striped in the pint with chocolate stars', or... 'Republican Nut, with each pint lovingly sampled by Dick Cheney to insure product quality', it seems the actual mix will be vanilla ice cream with fudge-covered waffle cone pieces and caramel.

As quoted by the comedian: "I'm not afraid to say it. Dessert has a well-known liberal agenda. What I hope to do with this ice cream is bring some balance back to the freezer case."
Wow, FD, that's 2 posts today in which I've mentioned you. And you're not even blogging anymore.

1) I was told that Ben and Jerry are not connected with the ice cream company any longer (except in name). I can't recall who told me, except for the fact that I remember that I trusted their word.

B) How mean is this? Catholic ice cream with chocolate just before LENT? That's just wrong!

I think you're right about the socialists Ben and Jerry cashing out (selling out?) to the capitalist "man".

Proving once again that Colbert is just playing us Catholics for fools. He's leading us down the primrose path with this Lent-busting dessert of his.

I would complain to him, but the Colbert Nation site is entirely run by someone else. A paid lackey, I'm sure, who is going to keep our Catholic complaints from the so-called "Catholic" Colbert!

HA!

Seriously, if I knew the guy, I would definitely tease him about this. And I might actually buy a pack of it...after Lent, of course. Ben and Jerry's makes the only vanilla ice cream I've ever liked.

One of the real pleasures of being a Catholic Colbert fan is the fact that we can laugh with Stephen when the joke is on the liberals.

This is not to say Stephen doesn't poke plenty of fun at the right, but the liberal view of his show is way to simplistic and doesn't give Colbert the credit he deserves.

In his role on a "satire" show he is able to get a free pass to kill sacred cows, especailly when interviewing left-wing guests.

Yesterday's show had a Valantine's Day theme, and Stephen devoted some of his show to attacking contraception. You may have heard about NYC handing out free condoms, Colbert totaly ridiculed the practice much like Gerald did at the Cafeteria is Closed Blog. There were other jokes too (saying that America needs an 8 child policy to counter China's 1 child policy), I don't recall all of them. And sure they are just jokes and TV can't be taken TOO seriously, but for a huge percentage of his audience this is probably the first time they heard something about contraception that was not praise/propaganda.It should be noted that Colbert is the youngest of 11 kids so he obviously has something of a stake in supporting Humane Viate, also, Colbert hasn't been married all that long and he already has three kids of his own.

Steven Colbert ice cream. This is a good country. Speaking of Comedy Central stars, you should check out 'the Winner' which premiers March 4 on Fox. First, it features a guy named Glen Abbott, who's played by Rob Corddry from "the Daily Show" which really ought to be all I need to say. Second, he's an awkward, late-blooming (read: middleaged) gentleman who is finally growing up-it makes me feel better about myself right now. God, I'm glad I'm a woman-at least my future has cats...lots of cats.
