All Souls Day
As we pray today for the souls of those who have gone before us, it is, perhaps, especially fitting on this Election Day that we remember those of the dearly departed who will be voting posthumously in certain precincts throughout the country.
Somehow, I don't think that's what Chesterton had in mind when he coined the term "Democracy of the Dead".

No, Chesterton didn't mean that. But, we live in Illinois, and the dead do vote here. I'm not sure that some of them are in purgatory, considering who they're voting for.
Did you hear about the fellow from Chicago who was a loyal Democrat? When he retired to Arizona, he wrote in his will that he should be buried in Chicago so he might continue to be a loyal Democrat.
