Archbishop Naumann: Gov. Sebelius a Bad Choice for Sen. Obama

Catholic News Agency reports that Kansas City Archbishop Naumann is hinting at what many Catholic commentators and bloggers have already said - that Sen. Obama would be making a big mistake with Catholic voters were he to select Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius as his running mate:
Quebec City, Aug 14, 2008 / 09:48 am (CNA).- With the U.S. presidential race heating up and both John McCain and Barack Obama close to announcing their vice presidential nominees, Archbishop Joseph Naumann of Kansas City says he hopes his warning of Gov. Kathleen Sebelius for her support of abortion, has “alerted” Obama that she is not a good advisor on the Catholic Church.

“What I found out after I took the pastoral action with Governor Sebelius is that Senator Obama had her on his advisory committee for Catholics,” recalled the archbishop.

“I wasn’t aware of that [beforehand],” he said, “but I hope that it alerted Senator Obama that this is not probably somebody that can really counsel you in terms of the mind and the heart of the Church on this very critical and important area.”

“So I think it would be a bad judgment on Senator Obama’s part to select someone who was in conflict with the Church.”

“Roe is not an endorsement of abortion, so much as an affirmation that abortion is a moral question for which only the potential mother can give answer.”

I understand the definition of this particular response to be called (affirmatively) 'looping.'

Of late, I have taken to tilting my head sideways, as would a questioning pooch, while trying to decipher the comments coming forth from the mouth of Sen. Obama. If such a malady as moral vertigo exists, he has a lethal case of it.

I no longer believe the likes of Sen. Obama and his ilk are misguided, mistaken or misinformed--theirs is a concerted effort to create a hell on earth.

I hope he chooses her and the GOP siphons off more Catholic voters because of his decision.

But we don't just need her, we can get Biden, Kaine, or any pro-baby killing Catholic. Either way, I pray they lose.

And I pray that the idiot that is John McCain does not choose a pro-choice running mate.

I'm Catholic and a pro-life Democrat. Jesus, I just can't win.
