"Scandalous"

Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius purports to be "a practicing Catholic", all the while acting against her Church's teachings on the sanctity of life by governing as a pro-abortion (excuse me, "pro-choice") Democrat.

Her bishop, Kansas City Archbishop Joseph Naumann, after meeting with Gov. Sebelius on the matter several times, has taken corrective action by telling Gov. Sebelius to refrain from Communion until she has gone to Confession for and publicly repented of her position on abortion that is in conflict with Church teaching.

Guess whose actions the editorial board of the local Kansas City rag deems "scandalous"?
Archbishop Naumann's scandalous dictate to Kathleen Sebelius
After all, no one is in a better position than The Kansas City Star to determine who should be entitled to receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion.

But let's be clear: what The Star is really upset about is that they KNOW - given the Democrat push to win back the Catholic vote this go-round - that Archbishop Naumann's actions effectively signal the end of Gov. Sebelius as a serious contender in the Obama Veepstakes.

Before I got to the link I thought you were talking about the National Catholic Reporter. Good to see it was the Star.

Just looking at the editor's past postings, it would seem she's really into shrill hysterics. I'm also going to go out on a limb and posit she has no clue what "scandal" means.

There's something about the area. Archbishop Burke in St. Louis, Bishop Finn across the river in KCMO, and Bishop Bruskwitz just to the north in Lincoln have all shown a propensity dispense authentic Catholic moral teaching. For those of Bishop Naumann's brother bishops who have ears...
