Deal Hudson: "When There Is Too Much Religion In Politics"
Deal Hudson writes at InsideCatholic on "When There Is Too Much Religion In Politics".
Here's my problem with Hudson's analysis: he's backing McCain who, of the remaining major candidates - McCain, Huckabee, Obama, and Clinton, ranks the lowest when it comes to "God talk" (NB: Brownback ranked only slightly higher than McCain, so I'm not sure what this "God-o-meter" is really worth when it comes to guaging a candidate's actual positions and record).
So, now that the horse he's backed isn't in his comfort zone when talking about religion while Huckabee, Clinton, and Obama all are, Hudson is suddenly taking the tack that "the McCain candidacy may be a gift to the GOP. McCain will provide a cooling-off period for "movement" religious conservatives."? Huh?
