"How a Shepherd Speaks"
In case anyone missed this post late Friday afternoon about Bishop Blair's monthly column in the Diocese of Toledo's newspaper The Catholic Chronicle, Rich Leonardi shares his take on Bishop Blair over at Ten Reasons.
As you can see from the links below to previous columns by Bishop Blair, I am quite appreciative of His Excellency's willingness to use his monthly column in the Chronicle to feed his flock with orthodox teachings, and I therefore link to them here. But the following line in his most recent offering makes the Bishop's October 2007 column my favorite to date:
Those for whom Vatican II is a distant and vague event, or for whom its supposed “spirit” is important, not its actual teaching, were disappointed [by the recent CDF document reaffirming Catholic teaching that the Catholic Church is THE Church].(emphasis added)
UPDATE
Needless to say, tripe like this from Richard McBrien doesn't appear in The Catholic Chronicle, as it does in other diocesan newspapers. (Hat tip: Terry Nelson)

Jay,
I followed your link to the McBrien article. It was certainly the predictable anti-Magisterium drivel to be expected of McBrien. However, it was edifying to see that virtually all of the reader comments were highly critical of McBrien. Very different from the fawning comments one sees on the McBrien pieces in the National Catholic Reporter.
