Why Catholics Cannot Vote for Rudy Guiliani
Jean at Catholic Fire has a post on "Why Catholics Cannot Vote for Rudy Giuliani":
I believe that Rudy Giuiliani possesses many characteristics of a great leader; however, with his strong support of abortion, gay marriages, and embryonic stem cell research, there is no way that we as Catholics can, in good conscience, vote for him. He is very much on a par with Hillary and Obama as far as these issues are concerned. Giuiliani embraces the culture of death, which serves as his ball and chain in the upcoming presidential election.

Mattias, in a vote between Hillary/Obama and Giuliani, I'd find a pro-life minor party candidate to vote for.
If the GOP can win with a pro-abort nominee, they'll never nominate another pro-lifer.
As I've written on my own blog, if we had a pro-abortion GOP President, the Republicans in Congress would be in a worse position to oppose the President on abortion than they'd be in with a Democratic president.
And we've been promised time and again that pro-abortion conservatives will help in the fight against abortion, but it's always a lie.
If the GOP can win with a pro-abort nominee, they'll never nominate another pro-lifer.
To be more precise, if the GOP can keep pro-life support with a pro-abort nominee, they'll never nominate another pro-lifer. For that reason, I strongly suspect I'd consider Hillary/Obama the lesser of two evils in a hypothetical 2008 race with Giuliani as the GOP candidate. Happily I utterly reject Mattias' dictum that one must always vote for one of the two major candidates—otherwise I might very well find myself pulling the lever for Hillary, which is a soul-chilling thought. Sometimes the lesser of two evils is just too evil.
To be more precise, if the GOP can keep pro-life support with a pro-abort nominee, they'll never nominate another pro-lifer.
