Forecast: More "Global Warming" Today for the Midwest and Northeast

From AccuWeather.com:
(State College, PA) - The storm that will bring a disruptive snow to the southern Midwest states and severe thunderstorms to the South today will blast the Northeast with a significant amount of winter weather tonight into Valentine's Day. As the storm rapidly intensifies off the coast, over a foot of snow will bury the interior Northeast with dangerous ice mixing with snow and rain along the Interstate 95 corridor from New York City to Washington, D.C.

***
North of the severe weather threat, the storm is dumping a swath of accumulating snow across the southern Midwest states. With plenty of moisture pouring northward and sufficient cold air in place, our
Winter Weather Center is forecasting up to a foot of snow to cover areas from central Illinois to northern Ohio by the start of Valentine's Day. Be advised for the heavy snow to cause disruptions with winds also blowing and drifting the snow around. The Midwest Regional News story discusses this wintry weather further.

Problems will be even greater across the Northeast tonight into Valentine's Day as energy from today's storm transfers to a second low off the central East Coast. This second low will rapidly intensify into a raging nor'easter that will cause widespread travel delays and hazardous conditions with likely school cancellations. The storm will become so strong that blizzard conditions will blast northern
New England Wednesday night.

As detailed further in the
East Regional News story, this Valentine's Day nor'easter will dump over a foot of heavily falling snow across the interior Northeast from northern Pennsylvania to Maine. The higher terrain will receive the greatest amount of snow, totaling over 18 inches. Also occurring after the snow comes to an end, the storm's whipping winds will blow and drift the snow around, greatly reducing visibility.

***
In the wake of the storm, more arctic air will blast over the eastern half of the nation through the rest of the workweek. This cold air will not only activate the lake-effect snow machine across the
Great Lakes, but will once again make the air feel brutally cold across the entire Northeast and Midwest as biting winds howl.
My Comments:
Good thing the Bishops are all over this one.
