The So-Called "Professional Conservative Smart Set" ...

... can kiss my @$$.

Add George Will to my $h!+ list. Actually, he's been on there for quite a while with his elitist anti-Palin schtick, but this is just beyond the pale. Someone ought to remind George that it's baseball season, and that he should STFU and take in a game.

And Ross Douthat should really tell his buddy Marc Ambinder that he does Ross no favors by describing him in these terms: "... the professional conservative smart set (like The New York Times’s Ross Douthat)".

What a bunch of elitist douchebags.

One day Will can offer one of the most insightful takes on the political scene offered by any journalist, the next day he can come off as a total schmuck. This would be one of those latter days.

BTW his work on baseball is pretty good.

I agree. He should stick to that.

But he's dead to me as a political commentator after this "can't trust Palin with nukes" b.s. That's not legitimate argumentation. That's ... well, if it hadn't been intended to impress his fellow elitists, you would call it demagogery.

That raises an interesting question: What do you call a rhetorical cheap shot that is uttered with the intention of impressing a narrow set of elites when it would be demagogery were it intended for mass consumption?

This is the edited version, Paul.

;-)

The "elitist rats leaving the sinking ship" post from 2008 - even in it's went-back-and-toned-it-down form - is probably the closest manifestation of my actual feelings on this subject. But, again, even that's the edited version.

Alternate headline:

"George Will Belatedly Endorses Lyndon Johnson's 'Daisy' Ad."

Excellent observation, DP!

Every time one of these elitist punks opens their mouth and condescends to Sarah Palin it makes me want her to run and win - just to annoy the elites.
