The Oscars Were On Last Night?

Yaaaaaawn.

However, I did watch the much more interesting Independent Spirit Awards on Friday (despite the fact that the Indies make the Academy Awards seem downright right wing by comparison - host Eddie Izzard even had an athiest moment at one point).

It is interesting to me to see a few overlapping nominees, and even some overlapping winners (see, e.g., Best Actor, Jeff Bridges, and Best Supporting Actress, Mo'Nique), between the Tinsel Town "mainstream" Academy Awards and the "arthouse" Indies.
