Nothing Quite So Invigorating as a Brisk Walk ...
... in -6 degree weather.
Earlier this morning, it was around -10 degrees. And the wind chill has to be around -20. It is quite frigid here in northern Ohio.
But I do love it. Especially when there's snow on the ground.

But I do love it.
I'd call you a freak if my fingers weren't so sore and stiff from this cold...
Growing up in Texas, I always wanted to live somewhere where it was cold in the winter with snow on the ground.
I also wanted to live somewhere where it wasn't 100+ degrees with extreme humidity for all 3 months of summer (with 80+ degree temps well into October).
I enjoy having 4 distinct seasons here in Ohio, although spring does seem to last only a few weeks. Believe me, by the beginning of April, I'll be sick of all the cold white stuff.
I figured out that my cold has receded and now I have allergies. The 'joy' of living in Houston, Texas.
Houston is a perfect example of a climate I can no longer live in. My mom is from the Houston area, and I always hated going down there. The climate in Northeast Texas (where I grew up) is bad enough, but Houston is just unbearable.
I know where you're coming from, Jay. I live in Texas now, but used to live in Ohio, and Iowa before that. We'll get snow here a couple of times a year, but nothing compared to the sustained white blankets of the north. In high school, so long as there weren't too many sheets of ice on the sidewalks, I would bike to school, even in sub zero temps.
I grew up in the north, and I detest the cold. I like the outdoors too much to enjoy it. Give me a nice, hot, 90+ degree day anytime.
I love cold weather and detest hot weather. My mother was from Saint John's Newfoundland, a place where you need blankets on the bed at night in July, and I spent the first few years of my life up there. Nevertheless, when it is 15below my dog and I do not go on our customary 5:00 AM stroll!
