This would be unfortunate. I met him once after Mass in Virginia. He seemed very devout and talking with him after he seemed very sincere. Best spin might be he was confused and trying to finesse an answer for a question he wasn't expecting.
Jay, In all fairness, those comments were over 2 years ago. I think Lt Gov Steele should state if he's changed to a more pro-life position, or as Phillip said, 'trying to finesse an answer he wasn't expecting'.
Or then again, maybe he is a soft-core supporter of abortion.

I'm with Cranky ... Steele's answer is so spectacularly incoherent and self-contradictory that it can hardly be evidence of a conviction on anything. He failed to cover himself in Glory ... not the same thing as heresy.
