Is Enthusiasm for Palin the Mirror Image of Enthusiasm for Obama?

Jim Geraghty asks and answers:
Is enthusiasm for Palin the mirror image of enthusiasm for Obama?

When CNN commentators begin describing her as a "metaphysical force," I'll rethink my assessment. When major newspapers run columns asking if she's "a Lightworker, that rare kind of attuned being... who can actually help usher in a new way of being on the planet," I'll consider the comparison. When her supporters create their own special salute, I'll chew over the theory. When celebrities talk about recording time "Before Palin and After Palin", let's talk. When her supporters say her nomination warrants another chapter in the Bible, I'll concur. When people begin selling her unfinished meals on eBay, I'll see the parallels. When "Palin-alujah" becomes a chant, I'll recognize the similarities. When people brag about shaking hands with hands that have shaken hers, then I'll nod in agreement. When Todd Palin tells audiences that his wife will heal our broken souls, I'll concede.
My Comments:
Yeah, most of the Palin-philes I've seen are fans of Gov. Palin because she seems to be genuinely real and just like us, not because she's some sort of transcendent agent of change who will heal our land.

Besides, I'll gladly concede that Palinmania has gone overboard when Catholic bloggers start saying things like this:
. . . For [her] part, [Palin] has the capacity to summon heroic forces from the spiritual depths of ordinary citizens and to unleash therefrom a symphonic chorus of unique creative acts whose common purpose is to tame the soul and alleviate the great challenges facing mankind.

For their part, each citizen has within the potential to respond to such a heroic calling. When they do, noble qualities are unleashed from the very depths of the human spirit. When they do not, a politics of fear ensues. In either event, the choice is ours to make.

Unlike other candidates, [Palin] is an inspired leader. [She] is authentic and truthful. [She] radiates truth and goodness. [She] possesses charisma and exercises sound judgment. For this reason, [she] serves as a catalyst to awaken the better part of ourselves. [Her] campaign is about calling America to exercise the noblest human qualities on behalf of the common good.
(emphasis added)

If we start seeing that sort of nonsense from Palin supporters, then I'll be concerned.
