You Stay Classy, Mitt

(CNN) – Mitt Romney is backing away from a statement that seemed to denigrate former GOP presidential candidate Robert Dole, who wrote a letter to Rush Limbaugh yesterday defending the former Massachusetts governor’s main Republican rival, John McCain.

In a FOX interview Tuesday morning, Romney had said the former Kansas senator was “probably the last person I would have wanted to have write a letter for me.”

My Comments:
Nice. Romney should've known that a remark like that was only going to play into McCain's hands.

I suppose we should at least be grateful that McCain - so far - hasn't followed the precedent set by Dole in the 1988 GOP New Hampshire Primary by snarling that his opponents should "Stop lying about my record!"
