Manuel Miranda Endorses John McCain
Deal Hudson reports over at InsideCatholic that Manuel Miranda, former GOP chief counsel to the Senate Majority Leader, has come out in favor of John McCain:
Manny Miranda, having just returned from over a year serving our country in Iraq, has endorsed John McCain. What makes this significant is that Manny, a Catholic attorney, led the fight that defeated the nomination of Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court. He also helped lead the forces that eventually got Roberts and Alito confirmed in the Senate. My Comments:
I'm not impressed by the fact that he touts the endorsement of Ted Olson and Miguel Estrada, both of whom originally endorsed Giuliani. But with Miranda in their midst, I know the pro-life cause will be protected from the judiciary side.

Miranda's endorsement may or may not be significant. But I have to concur with Hudson that the Olson and Estrada endorsements of McCain are meaningless, coming as they did after Olson and Estrada had initially backed pro-abort Rudy Giuliani.

I doubt that most endorsements have much effect especially those made by people who would be known pretty much only to politic wonks in the first place, and most of us who follow things closely have already made up our minds.
Probably Governor's endorsements have the most sway and Gov. Crist's endorsement of McCain was polled as being quite influential. No surprise there since he is no social conservative.
And now Pataki has endorsed McCain.
His endorsers are doing him no favor. It seems like every Republican who does not care about or is against social conservative issues are all for McCain.
