Guy Who Once Endorsed Arlen Specter Now Endorses Mitt Romney

Catholic pro-life stalwart Rick Santorum, appearing on the Laura Ingraham Show, has trashed John McCain's claim to being a "conservative" and has endorsed Mitt Romney for the GOP nomination.

I'm a big fan of Rick Santorum, but after his endorsement of liberal Republican Arlen Specter over pro-life conservative Pat Toomey in the Pennsylvania Senatorial Primary a few years ago, I'm not sure a Rick Santorum endorsement means anything to anyone any more.

Poor old Specter. Haven't thought about him lately. He was never the same after his presidential campaign took off like a lead balloon. Only candidate I've ever seen who ran in to trouble because his campaign buttons spelled his name wrong. That HAD to hurt.

Ah, but Specter is now investigating the Patriots "spygate" scandal. At least he isn't busying his time with completely fruitless pursuits related to topics that the Senate has absolutely no legitimate reason to bother with.

That was always Santorum's great blunder in what was a calculated move on his part to keep the majority.

Though I don't think his endorsement is worthless since he is making solid points that conservatives can certainly get behind and he certainly knows McCain well from behind the scenes.

It does make me wonder how Romney does manage to get some real pro-life conservatives behind him who accept that he truly moved in a conservative direction. Either he is a good actor or it is true.
