Brownback to Drop White House Bid

Senator Sam Brownback is expected to withdraw from ’08 race for the presidency on Friday, according to Associated Press:
WASHINGTON - Republican Sam Brownback will drop out of the 2008 presidential campaign on Friday, people close to the Kansas senator told NBC News Thursday.

Trouble raising money was a main reason for his decision, said one person close to Brownback, who requested anonymity because the candidate had not yet announced his plans.

Brownback, a lesser-known conservative contender, is expected announce his withdrawal in Topeka, Kan.

The senator is widely expected to seek the Kansas governor’s office in 2010, when his term—his second—expires. He had promised in his first Senate campaign to serve no more than two terms.

My Comments:
Too bad. Senator Brownback just could never get any momentum going, starting with the very day he announced he was running - on the same day Hilliary! made her announcement.

Nevertheless, I believe that, of all the candidates in either the Republican or Democrat parties, Sam Brownback is the one who comes closest to having an agenda that is most reflective of Catholic teaching. That is why I endorsed his candidacy early on (over a year ago, in fact).

I wish Senator Brownback all the best in his future endeavors, and thank him for his efforts to serve his country by running for President.

Booooooooooo.

I hope the eventual winner is smart enough to ask him to be running mate.

I think Brownback sunk his campaign with his "profile-in-weathervane votes" during the debate on the immigration bill.
