New York Post: "Rudy Winning Over 'Right' People"

From The New York Post:
September 3, 2007 -- Rudy Giuliani - the thrice-married presidential candidate who staunchly supported abortion rights, gun control and gay rights as the Big Apple's mayor - is receiving a surprising level of support from social and religious conservatives.

A recent Diageo/Hotline poll shows Giuliani leading the GOP field among Christian evangelicals and abortion opponents. He beats his nearest rival, ex-Sen. Fred Thompson, among evangelicals, 26 to 16 percent, and among anti-abortionists, 26 to 20 percent, the poll shows.

Similar polls by Gallup and the Pew Research Center also have Giuliani ahead.

Josiah Schmidt, 21, a college senior from Ohio, launched the Web site Social Conservatives for Rudy Giuliani '08.

"I believe that he will not only preserve all the successes of the pro-life movement in the past decades, but he will also forge ahead on the issue by appointing strict constructionist judges," Schmidt said.

Greg Alterton, 55, a Californian evangelical who blogs for the site, was troubled by Giuliani's personal scandals but said, "We're not electing the head spouse."
My Comments:
GAG! I think I'm going to be sick.

Just a reminder: UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL THIS SOCIAL CONSERVATIVE BE VOTING FOR RUDY! And yes, even if that means electing Hilliary!

On a side note, I didn't realize that the hypocrites over at So-Called "Social Conservatives" for Rudy were based in Ohio. I wonder who Mr. Schmidt voted for in last year's gubernatorial primary.

UPDATE
From the comments:
So it's run by a college kid. Just what we need, to be lectured by a naive college kid on how we won't be snowed over by a pro-abortion Republican.

As you know, I'm with you on not voting for Giuliani.

But I'm highly skeptical of the claims of anyone that social conservatives are supporting Giuliani. I'll believe it when I see it.
