"Compliment Them for Their Newfound Interest in Ritual Fidelity"
Rich Leonardi offers his advice to pastors wishing to celebrate the extraordinary form of the Roman Rite (a.k.a. the Traditional Latin Mass) in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati:
My advice to Cincinnati priests seeking to celebrate the extraordinary form? Politely decline any request from His Excellency's triumvirate for certification, compliment them for their newfound interest in ritual fidelity, copy the Ecclesia Dei Commission on all correspondence, and celebrate Mass per the standards set forth in Summorum Pontificum. Given the glacial pace at which things operate around here, it's unlikely you'll get any interference before 2009.My Comments:
Of course, I think the various diocesan chanceries throughout the country KNOW that those priests who are most interested in celebrating the extraordinary form are also those priests most likely to be obedient to the wishes of their bishop.
Meanwhile, dissenting and disobedient types are busy offering slipshod Masses full of liturgical abuses without the diocesan powers-that-be saying so much as "boo".
