Some Fine Quality Student Athletes at "Big Blue"

We're still a week away from the official kickoff of the greatest sport in the history of the world - college football. And my annual official kickoff blog post won't come until next week.

But in honor of the upcoming season, I just couldn't resist a link to this story about the facebook profile for a fine student athlete up at the University of Michigan - Marques “Grand Marques” Slocum. [EXTREME VULGARITY ALERT!]

Wow. That's class and then some. By far not the most offensive entry in the facebook profile, but arguably the most relevant given recent news events:

Q: Are you a cat or a dog person?

A: im f****n wit a rock [Rotweiller?] or a pit [Pit Bull?] just so it can cha cat

Now, I have no idea what this U of M scholar has just said, but in light of the Michael Vick imbroglio, I have to stop and wonder just what Mr. "Grand Marques" plans on doing with a "rock" or a "pit" that can "cha cat".

Generally, it's The Ohio State University who is being raked over the coals by Michigan fans for the quality of its so-called student athletes (see, e.g., former OSU running back Maurice Clarett). It's good to see that at least they're keeping it clean (and "keepin' it real") up in Ann Arbor.

Alright, I'll give some credit to the "Grand Marques" on that one. Given the virtual pauper status that the NCAA forces upon student athletes in order to keep schools and alumni from cheating, that IS funny.
