Brazilian Supermodel (NOT Miss Lima) Mocks Virginity, Blasts Catholic Church

From Catholic World News:
Sao Paulo, Jun. 6, 2007 (CWNews.com) - A Brazilian supermodel has created a stir in her native country by mocking Catholic teachings on sexuality.

Gisele Bundchen delivered her own opinions on contraception, abortion, and premarital sex, the newspaper Folha de S. Paolo reports. The model, who has recently been linked in gossip columns with American football star Tom Brady, announced that premarital sex is ubiquitous. "Today there is no woman who is a virgin when she marries," she said. "Show me anyone who is a virgin."
(emphasis added)

Here's the Associated Press story: "Supermodel Gisele Bundchen blasts Catholic church for opposition to condoms".

My Comments:
Contrast this woman's attitude with that of her fellow Brazilian, the lovely and talented Miss Lima [WARNING: scantily clad supermodel alert]:
GQ: Wow. A scapular. Do you go to church?

Miss Lima: Of course! Every Sunday.

GQ: Is there anything in the teachings of the Catholic Church that you don’t agree with?

Miss Lima: No.

GQ: Are you pro-life?

Miss Lima: What do you mean, pro-life?

GQ: How do you feel about abortion?

Miss Lima: I think it’s a crime.

***
GQ: Are you a one-guy woman?

Miss Lima: Of course! I’m a Catholic.

GQ: Look, I’m Catholic, too, but there’s a lot of things about the church that make it hard to date within its rules, don’t you think?

Miss Lima: Like what?

GQ: Birth control, premarital sex…

Miss Lima: Well, you know, sex is just for after marriage.

GQ: Say what?

Miss Lima: Sex is for after marriage.

GQ: Are you saying you’re not going to have sex before marriage?

Miss Lima: Exactly.

GQ: You mean you’ve never had sex?

Miss Lima: That’s why I have to say.

GQ: You sure about this?

Miss Lima: Yes.
It's hard not to read Miss Bundchen's remarks as a shot at her fellow countrywoman's proclaimed virginity.

Left, Miss Lima; Right, Miss Bundchen

Well, I guess that Ms. Bundchen is jockeying for an invite to speak at the annual Los Angeles Religious Education Congress.

I've never understood the fascination with Miss Bundchen. Not that she's ugly--far from it. But overall, what's the fuss? She's even less attractive today.

Miss Lima 1, Miss Bundchen 0.

Disappointing sign of the times -- when one Catholic is absolutely flabbergasted at the possibilty that the other takes the teaching of the Church seriously.
