New York Press: "Brownback's That Close?"

From the New York Press:
Maybe it's a sign of a coming 2008 Republican turnaround, or maybe it's more evidence that people have already made up their mind about Hillary Clinton, but a new Rasmussen poll finds Kansas Senator and conservative Republican Sam Brownback (pictured) within striking distance of the former first lady.

Right now, Clinton would edge out Brownback 46-41. Another Democrat, Senator Barack Obama, defeats Brownback by a much wider margin, 49-34.

More here.
Here's the story about the Rasmussen poll:
Long Shot GOP Candidate Brownback Just Five Points Behind Clinton

The first Rasmussen Reports telephone survey gauging general-election support for Republican Senator Sam Brownback shows him trailing Democratic Senator Hillary Clinton among likely voters by the narrow margin of just five percentage points. It's Clinton 46% Brownback 41%.

However, Democratic Senator Barack Obama (news, bio, voting record) leads Senator Brownback by the much wider margin of 49% to 34%.

My Comments:
I may be backing Brownback, but even I know that can't be right at this stage in the game.

Jay,

We have to do everything we can to keep Obama out of the White House and get Brownback in.

I think Hillary is pretty much out of the picture because all of the baggage she carries, although I could be wrong on this.

But Obama is coming across as "Mr. Nice Guy" (and the liberal press loves him) which is extremely deceptive as he has some wicked policies - one of which is being 100% pro-death. He is a "dummy" for the Demo(n)crats - their mouthpiece, their "Yes" man. They tell him how to think and what to do - he's their robot.

Brownback and Tancredo are great solid pro-lifers. If Guiliani gets in it will be just like having Hillary or Obama, which will mean disaster for our country.

We need to pray as much as possible for the presidential election and for our country.

You are doing a super job of promoting Brownback, but there are still many out there who don't know who he is or where he stands on the issues.

I know the election seems far off now, but I would like to do more on my site to promote him. Let's colloborate on this as much as possible, ok? I also want to include more links on my site to his supporters, more news and more photos of him.

It's way too early to make any kind of statements on the outcome, but there's one thing you should be smiling about. What has always been the kiss of death for the Democrats? Overconfidence. Watching it all could be a lot of fun.

He's for post-birth abortion. That's like 110% pro-death.

Hillary has very high negatives, so it is not really a surprise that an unknown face like Brownback would test well against her. I think the key may be to try to get her the nomination, though Obama has some significant negatives, too, that have yet to surface.

You know, Jay, I would comment on your blog more if the other commenters would leave me more to say than, "Yeah, right, what they said!"

We all know Hillary. There's nothing she can or will do to change anyone's opinion of her. I expect people who never heard of Brownback prefer him to Clinton.

When people learn more about Brownback, the numbers will only improve.
