At least that is what they are teaching my son at daycare. Yesterday when I picked him up there were notices distributed to each parent about what was 'appropriate play'. Here is their list of 'bad play' that's not to be tolerated or allowed.No good guy/bad guy role playAll aggressive behavior is inappropriate and violent.
No cops/robbers role play
No cowboys/Indians role play
No pretending to be monsters
No pretending to be soldiers
Basically they have nixed any behavior that is remotely masculine. I have a real problem with someone telling my son that playing like a boy is something bad 'violent' 'aggressive' and must not be tolerated. I was livid when I read the letter but a friend talked me down and told me to go in and discuss it with them 'tactfully' and not in typical guns-blazing-cannonball-attack-mode.

No way would my boys be able to make it in a place like that. The little monsters would be thrown out the first day.

I don't know if the complete emmasculation of American boys is some sort of overeaching social engineering plot or just stupid blunders which snowball and compound like crazy...
A Priest/friend of mine was once saying how society encourages two types of men...
One, the effeminte, sensitve, girly sort of man.
If that doesn't float your boat then...
Two, the wild and crazy, man-show, jackass, playa, drink a lot, score with chicks, sort of guy. I think he used Kevin Federline as an example.
Of course there are subsets to these basic sterotypes, and I would add a third, the well meaning but dumb and awkard father (ala the dad's you see on most TV shows.)
Whatever path it takes, the quintescne of the media/secular left's ideal man is the kind of guy who is "there for you," when you need a ride to the abortion clinic, isn't going to "judge," and will, "support you whatever your choice is."
Of course the media/secular left live in their own world, and we live in America so thankfully masculinity is alive and well, though it is trouble.
When I think of the huge numbers of boys being raised without fathers (due to divorce or simply being bastards, to say nothing of what is on the horrizen with in-vitro pregnancy and families without a need for a man) I shudder at the consequences this will have.
Interestingly enough Stephen Colbert, mentioned last night that divorce has been devestating to American masculinity.
I wonder: do they deal the same way with aggressive girls ? (I'm thinking of my maternal grandmother, who pounded boys on a regular basis when she was in grade school... her parents had to keep switching her from school to school because the staff at each school tended to frown on a girl beating boys up...)
Amen. The emasculation of our children has got to stop.
Heck, my girls wouldn't be allowed at that daycare.
They'd hate our house. My son has is honing his instinct to smite "bad guys," complete with sword-swinging motion.
What FD said. You can choose to nurture a healthy masculinity, or you'll get a generation dominated by cowed metrosexuals and rebellious neanderthals. Of course, neither group will have more than the slightest and most self-interested regard for women.
