That's Some Footprint You Got There, Al

Al Gore's Mansion Described As Energy HogMy Comments:
(CNSNews.com) - Former Vice President (and global warming aficionado) Al Gore deserves an award for hypocrisy, says the Tennessee Center for Policy Research. Full Story
Well, let's just say my family's so-called "carbon footprint" is miniscule in comparison to that eco-kook Algore's.
I work from home, and Sarah is a homemaker. We own only one car, albeit a mini-van to transport our kids around. We live in town, so we walk to a lot of places, and when we do drive, it's only short distances. We prefer older homes to new homes, so we have never built a house on what was once someone's farmland. Instead, our previous house was over 200 years old and our present home is 125 years old. Granted, it costs a little more to heat and cool older homes, which aren't exactly energy efficient. But it's nowhere near what it takes to heat and cool a mansion like Algore's or Breck Girl's. We live an unextravagant non-consumerist lifestyle. We recycle. Etc. Etc. Etc.
Yet despite all this, Algore is a "hero" because of his lame-brained "global warming" schtick, but I'm a monster (and comparable to a Holocaust denier) who wants to destroy the planet because I'm a "global warming" skeptic.
Please. We all know who is going to bear the burden of the draconian regulations that Algore and his ilk have in mind, and it won't be Algore and his ilk. Our eco-betters can always afford to buy "credits" (eco-indulgences) to allow them to pollute all they'd like. Meanwhile, we peons can expect to either pay out the nose in higher taxes and higher energy costs, and/or make the kinds of lifestyle sacrifices that Algore and his ilk are unwilling to make.
See Captain Ed's and The Anchoress' takes.
