Divided House Votes to Allow Embryonic Research
From Cybercast News Service:
(CNSNews.com) - In a vote of 253 to 174, the House of Representatives Thursday passed a bill to lift President Bush's restrictions on federal funding for stem cell research that may hold future medical treatments but destroys early stage human embryos. My Comments:
The bill is identical to one passed by both chambers last year and subsequently vetoed by Bush. The White House has indicated that lawmakers can expect a similar response from the president this time, and Thursday's vote fell short of the two-thirds margin needed to overturn a presidential veto.

This is H.B. 3. That's third bill on the House agenda. Just so you know where "conservative Catholic grandother" Nancy Pelosi places her priorities.
1 Comments:
On the bright side they are nowhere near the 290 votes needed to override a veto and the Democrats' 30-seat pickup only netted them 15 extra votes to fund embryo-destructive research.
