... and I have no idea whether it will be the wipeout of the Republicans that so many pundits are predicting. Neither do I have any idea regarding the accuracy of recent claims coming from the Repuclican camp that their candidates are "closing the gap" on the Democrats. And who knows how important ballot measures related to stem-cell research, same-sex "marriage", and the banning of abortion will turn out?
The point is that no one knows. That's why they have the vote. Until the votes are in, it is absolutely meaningless to try to speculate as to outcomes. Sure, do what you can to get out the vote. But to me, the predictions as to outcomes (or even "trends" in the most recent polls) are all bunk.
The one thing I do know is that polls almost always undercount support for the Republican candidates and almost always undercount support for the conservative position on ballot measures.
As for how I will vote, the choice is pretty clear for me here in Ohio. The Republican candidates that will appear on my ballot are solidly pro-life. I may disagree with some positions taken by someone like Mike DeWine (most often referred to on this blog as Mike DeRINO), but there is no question that he has been an advocate on behalf of the unborn, while his opponent "Charade" Brown never met a fetus he didn't want to introduce to Planned Parenthood (100% rating from NARAL).
Similarly to Mike DeWine, Congressman Paul Gillmor has been a tireless advocate on pro-life issues such as abortion and stem-cell research, having received a 0% rating from NARAL.
Finally, Republican candidate for Governor, Ken Blackwell, has also fought on behalf of traditional family values for the people of Ohio throughout his many years in public service.
There is no question that the Republican party does not deserve to win tomorrow. However, the alternative in the Democrat Party is unthinkable for anyone concerned about the moral direction of our state and our nation. Were the Republicans appearing on my ballot tomorrow not solidly pro family and pro life, I would be looking for a 3rd party candidate or sitting at home. But the candidates appearing on my ballot have, for the most part, proven themselves worthy of my support, while their opponents have shown themselves to be completely unworthy of my consideration.
Tomorrow, I will be voting to reelect U.S. Sen. Mike DeWine and U.S. Congressman Paul Gillmor, and voting to elect Ken Blackwell as Governor of the State of Ohio.
We are in the same boat here Jay! Being new to Ohio I had some searching to do here fo figure out who is who. Tonight I get to figure out the proposals and judges, oh so much fun.
