Some Questionable Decisions at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops

First, Mark Shea blogs this story about the USCCB using copyright law to keep bloggers and other website operators from posting or even quoting USCCB documents.

Then, Boethius at Fumare notes that the USCCB's calendar lists the heretical Call to Action Conference among upcoming events for the month of November.

[ED.: I have amended this post, which had been highly critical and downright disrespectful toward the Bishops' Conference, so that it is now in line with my general policy against Bishop bashing on this blog.]

It has now been removed.

Funny thing when light shines on something like this. Though I wonder if anything will be done about the staffer that thought this was a good idea in the first place? My inclination is no.

Not unless his or her identity is somehow leaked anyway.

You want a name leaked? Sure. I'll give you the name. Sherri A. Watkins. I don't know that she actually prepared the schedule, but she's the one who distributed it. My source received the schedule in his e-mail as an attachment. The attachment was dated October 16, 2006 and stated it was from Sherri A. Watkins. It also gave both her office and home phone number (which I have, but which I'll refrain from releasing).

I should add that I'm only revealing her name because she attached it to a very public e-mail and apparently had no reservations about disseminating a schedule which included a Call to Action Conference. Presumably, hundreds of people on her Catholic Media e-mail list already are aware of Ms. Watkins' identity, so it's of little consequence to me to further reveal her name.

The USCCB? In bed with dissenters? Not surprising, as the dissenters' mission is to penetrate all organs of the Church, in order to change/silence Magisterial teaching. It's these folks that worry me more than the Poncho Ladies.
