Crunchy Consumerism Goes Church Hopping
This is what happens when a journalist who decries "consumerism" in a much-talked-about book takes a consumeristic approach to religion.
Here's Mark Shea's take.
I wish Rod and his family the best. But most of all, I pray that they return to the Truth of the Roman Catholic faith, which remains the Truth even if you've talked yourself into no longer believing it.

'Tis a shame. Instead of despairing of the state of the Church in America, he should have read his bible:
"Be watchful and strengthen the things that remain, which are ready to die." Rev 3:2
Esto vigilans et confirma cetera
This is a development that should be heeded by the Church, as I too have contemplated the trek to Constantinople. But if the faithful leave (a contradiction anyway) Then Mahoney, Chittister, and Kissler have won.
