Commentary: GOP Encouraged Foley to Run Again

From Cybercast News Service:
(CNSNews.com) - After it was learned that Rep. Mark Foley had dispatched an inappropriate (but not obscene) e-mail message to a 16-year-old male former page in 2005, the House Republican leadership was still urging him to seek re-election from his Florida district in 2006. He agreed. It was a success that surely will cost the Republicans Foley's seat in Congress and perhaps control of the House for the first time since the 1994 election, writes columnist Robert D. Novak. Read the commentary
My Comments:
So the Republican leadership encouraged a pro-abort, pro same-sex "marriage" RINO that it knew to be a pederast-in-waiting to run for re-election.

What do you expect from the party who spent millions and millions of dollars to help leftist RINO Lincoln Chafee defeat a more conservative (but by no means "right wing") challenger in the Rhode Island Republican primary?

The Republican Party has abandoned its principles and has become all about retaining power for power's sake. Time for conservatives to dump 'em.

Wow, that's tempting. If only someone with some political experience, even a former small-town mayor somewhere, would rise up, and found a party based on true faith and true conservatism.

That would be awesome!

A friend of mine who is very into politics, and Luthern by the way, once told me (after months of being dissatisfied with the Republican party) that we need a new third party, a "Catholic Center Party," of course this name came from a party that existed in Germany in the 1920's, but it was interesting to see that this Protestant friend saw Catholics values as the solution to many of the issues facing America.

That said, I am with Paul on this!

The other alternative would be to do what many Christian conservatives have been trying to do, which is to take control of the GOP, and kick the RINOs out.
That may be an impossible task, however. The Republican Party seems to be an Augean Stable that not even Hercules could clean! (We have a similar problem in the UK - the Tory Party is led by David Cameron, who is a TINO - a Tory In Name Only - who wants us to accept gay marriage, etc.) A Christian Party (you'd want evangelical votes as well, so best avoid calling it 'Catholic'), or let's say Christian Conservative Party, might do very well. You could always try it out at district/county and state level first, before setting up on the national stage.

David Cameron strikes me as Tony Blair without the balls.
