The Liberal Bible ...

... is made up of only 3 verses:
Judge not, lest you be judged.
~Matthew 7:1

Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
~Matthew 7:3

Let him who is without sin cast the first stone
~John 8:7
To listen to liberals talk about religion, you'd think these 3 verses seem to be about the extent of their knowledge of scripture. *

Well, that and the fact that Jesus ate with sinners, said to love everybody, and apparently never talked about homosexuals and abortion.

* At least those seem to be the only verses that all liberals appear to have memorized - ready to whip out in a pinch as if that limited knowledge of Christ's teachings trumps anything you might have to say.

Among the Scriptures they excised from their Bibles:

* Jeremiah 7:6 "...and do not shed innocent blood in this place..."
* Matthew 25:40 "...whatever you did for the least of one of these my brothers and sisters, you did for me."
* Romans 12:1 "...offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God..."
* 1 Peter 4:9 "Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling."
* Isaiah 49:15 "Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb?"

They also excised The Parable of the Good Samaritan

They cut out all the scriptures about the unborn:

* Jeremiah 1:5 - "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart"
* Psalm 139:16 - "Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be."

And they really blow off Biblical words on social justice:

* 2 Chronicles 25:3 "...The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, or the children be put to death for the fathers..."
* 1 Corinthians 10:24 "Nobody should seek for his own good, but the good of others."

Here is the biggest difference between Christian liberals and Christian conservatives. Both wish to help people, but neither can agree how to do so. Conservatives listen to liberal ideas and then rip them apart since they usually are these stupid "feel good" ideas which look nice on paper but long term do more harm then good. Welfare is a great example of this, why do food stamps cover soda-pop and candy? But liberals don't listen to any ideas that come from conservatives, they attack the presenter of the idea of only looking out for personal interests or interests in a large corporate sponsor. Liberals then use public persuasion methods to turn conservative ideas into ignorance induced public fear. Bush’s attempt to privatize social security was a perfect example of this, both liberals and conservatives acknowledged the fact that SS needed something, but where were the liberal ideas on it?
So lets base it on some solid fact, abortion is murder, liberals overwhelmingly support abortion which makes it hard to say God is on their side.

My reply to Liberal Bible Verse #3, John 8:7:

" Is that so? Well, I just finished Reconciliation, and I've got this here cinderblock.."

Funny blog, and as a liberal, to an extent, very true. But...

Jeremiah 7:6 "...and do not shed innocent blood in this place..."

Liberals did not start an unprovoked war, killing untold thousands of innocent people.

Matthew 25:40 "...whatever you did for the least of one of these my brothers and sisters, you did for me."

Despite the propaganda spouted by another commenter, Democrats in general, and Liberals and Lefties in particular, have historically championed the rights of the poor and uneducated. That they have done so sans a Biblical pretext may gall you, but all of the government safety net programs were designed by Liberals. Our social programs may be far from perfect, but they do a hell of a lot to educate and keep abject poverty at bay for millions of Americans. In terms of standing up for the common man and giving a hand to the poor, Liberals are all this country has! The Republican political party has done a great job of inflating membership by exploiting (rather than finding common ground) divisions in social opinion, but they have not followed up with anything but contempt for those not in their income bracket.

You got me on the abortion quotes. Your opponents do believe that abortion should be legal, though I do dare you to find one person who truly wants abortions to be prolific. Progressives believe that abortion should be as absolutely rare as possible, and that the way to end abortions is to reduce poverty an increase education (all education, not just sex education). Research shows that this is the way to reduce this regrettable practice. I see a lot of so called Christians rail against the education system, and when Republicans step in to solve the problem, they do what they always do: propose tax cuts and privatization with little oversight on the money and call it a day.

Why not work with liberals to solve some problems, eh? Why not fight for a decent minimum wage, so those who are poor and pregnant feel they have a chance to support and raise a family? Several Democratic Senators tried to do just that two weeks ago, but I didn’t hear any ‘pro-life’ people screaming when the Republicans shot it down. Why not fight for mandated health care for all, so having more children won’t mean worrying about how to pay the bills? I don’t expect big business conservatives to support this, but why not regular Christians? Where in the Bible does Jesus say Pharmaceutical companies should get big profits? Where are the ‘pro-life anti-war’ protests? Where is the outrage on Darfur? Why are we failing to use proven tactics in fighting AIDS in Africa, and subjecting millions to horrible deaths, just because some of you are squeamish about condoms?

okokok, I'm sorry and I'm getting a little carried away. I don't mean to imply that Jay is not concerned with these things. I am assuming too many things here about the blog that I shouldn't just becuase I linked here from another 'pro-life' site.

Lets just end it with this: For those of you who insist on demonization tactics and divsion as a means to an end, keep in mind these are tactics employed by those at war. And how can someonce proclaiming themselvs 'pro-life' be interested in that?

Liberals did not start an unprovoked war, killing untold thousands of innocent people.

Neither did conservatives. I assume you mean the Iraq war. Saddam provoked the world in 1990 by invading Kuwait. The war in 1991 was ended by a cease fire agreement. Saddam did not hold up his part of the agreement throughout the 1990s.

After we were provoked on 9/11/2001 the US started a war against terrorists and those who support them. The president decided we could no longer put up with Saddam ignoring the cease fire agreement. Therefore, we resumed fire and finally finished the Gulf War of 1991.
