Diogenes on Cdl. McCarrick's "Retirement Project"

Diogenes, writing at "Off the Record" for Catholic World News, has a great suggestion for a retirement project to keep Cardinal McCarrick busy:
So now, freed from the responsibility of running an archdiocese, maybe Cardinal McCarrick can step up the pace of activity on that committee of his... You know, the group of bishops trying to work out an appropriate response to Catholic politicians who support abortion?

As you may recall, during the 2004 elections that committee was expected to produce its recommendations "soon." Mid-term 2006 elections are now 6 months away; we're still waiting.
My Comments:
By all means, please finish up this project. After all, there must be a unified response of mutal mealy-mouthedness in the face of pro-abort pols who insist on receiving Communion unworthily so that the USCCB isn't embarrassed by those "loose cannons in the hierarchy" who insist on upholding Canon 915.

I doubt that in retirement, Cdl. McCarrick will feel liberated enough rock the boat on Pro-Abort Pols. Or, then again, maybe he will feel liberated enough to do nothing about it. Now, if Bp. Fabian Bruskewitz was in charge of the report..
