NAACP Chairman Compares GOP to Nazis

From WorldNetDaily:
Civil rights activist and NAACP Chairman Julian Bond delivered a blistering partisan speech at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina last night, equating the Republican Party with the Nazi Party and characterizing Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and her predecessor, Colin Powell, as "tokens."

"The Republican Party would have the American flag and the swastika flying side by side," he charged.

***
He referred to former Attorney General John Ashcroft as J. Edgar Ashcroft. He compared Bush's judicial nominees to the Taliban.

The talk so infuriated at least one black family in attendance among the 900 in the auditorium that they got up and walked out in protest
[ED: Just 1 out of 900 voted with their feet? That's slightly worse than the 1 in 10 ratio in which blacks generally vote for Republicans at election time].
My Comments:
This nutcase spoke at my law school graduation at the University of Virginia. I was horrified that my parents travelled all the way from Texas to witness Julian Bond's partisan display. It was only slightly better than his more recent performance in North Carolina.

It was the spring after Bill Clinton's 1992 election, and Bond used the opportunity of my graduation to pontificate about how "the days of all the wealth trickling up to the powerful while all the misery trickled down to the powerless" were finally over.

If I were Alec Baldwin and didn't have a life, I would "loathe and despise him on a daily basis" for his partisan and intemperate speech on such a day of importance for me and my family.

[NOTE: A conservative could never get away with giving a partisan speech during a graduation ceremony at a major institution like the University of Virginia. But I suppose the fact that slavery existed in the Commonwealth for 246 years means that exceptions must be made for race-hustling liberals.]
