College Catholic On What Stinks in Denmark (Hint: the Problem Ain't With Cartoons)

College Catholic is at it again, posting another multi-part journalist-quality piece - this time, "tak[ing] an indepth look at the collapse of Christianity in Denmark":
What most don't realize is that the Christian Danish flag, is the oldest national banner still in use. Furthermore, not only does it reveal its nation’s Christian past but comes complete with a bona-fide holy miracle legend!

On June 15, 1219 at Lyndanisse, the King of Denmark, (St.) Valdemar II was leading a crusade against Pagan Estonia. The Pagan hordes were innumerable and the Danish army was on the brink of collapse. Then a clap of thunder resonated across the battlefield, a red banner with a lily white cross gracefully descended from the heavens to the earth, into the hands of the archbishop, who heard the words, "When you raise this banner against your enemies, they will yield before you!” The clergyman rushed the flag to the king, who waved it, rallying his faltering army, and the Danes emerged victorious over the barbarians.

Things have changed dramatically since the days when warrior saints and kings led crusader armies to glorious victories under the banner of the cross. As -rumored to be Catholic- playwright William Shakespeare observed in his play Hamlet, “something is rotten in the state of Denmark.”
