Mean-Spirited Dem Attacks Leave Alito's Wife In Tears
From the Drudge Report:
Judge Samuel A. Alito’s wife Martha left the confirmation hearing room in tears this evening, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned. The Washington Post, however, had a different take - placing the blame for Mrs. Alito's tears on (of course) Republicans:
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) apologized to the Judge’s family for the behavior of his fellow committee members during the course of the last three days.
Sen. Graham said: “Judge Alito, I am sorry that you’ve had to go through this. I am sorry that your family has had to sit here and listen to this.”
Democrats on the Judiciary Committee have attacked Judge Samuel A. Alito over his membership in Concerned Alumni of Princeton and his involvement in the Vanguard case.
One senior Republican in the hearing room said of the situation: “After three full days of attacks against her husband’s character, Mrs. Alito had enough. Democrat behavior during this hearing has not only been wrong, it’s been embarrassing. Ted Kennedy is nothing but a bully.”

The wife of Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito left his confirmation hearings in tears Wednesday. My Comments:
Martha-Ann Bomgardner, who had sat behind her husband for hours of questioning over several days, left as her husband was being questioned by Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.
***
Moments earlier, the senator had asked Alito, "Are you really a closet bigot?" The nominee said no, and Graham said, "No sir, you're not."
***
Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah suggested that Alito's wife was upset with the comments of Democrats. "She's sick and tired of the mistreatment of her husband," Hatch said. He also said that she was suffering from a migraine headache.
(emphasis added)
You see, it's only the Republicans who are "suggesting" that mean-spirited Democrat "questioning" is to blame for upsetting Mrs. Alito. The Post, in its infinite wisdom, knows that only Republicans can be to blame for such a thing.
