Launch of New Catholic Conservative Org: Fidelis

Hat tip: Catholics in the Public Square

30 June 2005 saw the launch of a new Catholic organization devoted to defending the role of faith, family, and life issues in the public square - Fidelis.org. Please check out the new Fidelis.org website (see also JudgesOfFaith.org):
About Fidelis

Fidelis is a Catholic-based family of organizations that has been founded to defend and promote the time-honored values of life, faith and family throughout America. These three issues represent the most important questions of our time.

How do we do this? Fidelis is comprised of four separate entities working together to accomplish specific objectives. Together Fidelis is focused on electing pro-life, pro-family and pro-religious liberty candidates to the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives, supporting the confirmation of judges, and promoting and defending Constitutionally-sound law through the Congress and the courts.
My Comments:
I was particularly pleased to see that this new group launched an ad against what I have dubbed the "Schumer Doctrine" - the notion that persons of deeply held religious faith are disqualified from serving on the federal judiciary:
SOME IN WASHINGTON PLAY POLITICS WITH RELIGION

Before Judge Bill Pryor was finally confirmed to the bench, he faced mean-spirited attacks simply because he was a devoted husband and father who lived his faith. Some in the U.S. Senate
[ED.: e.g., Chuck Schumer] even suggested he was unsuitable because of his "deeply held" religious beliefs.

I wish we had something similar in Canada - we have variations on the theme, but nothing quite so direct in its aims.

Great blog, btw! Nice to bump into more and more converts out here.

Thanks for your comments, as well as for the compliment on the blog.

Best of luck in getting things back on the "right" path in Canada - conservatives and traditional values folks sure have had a rough time of it lately up there.
