An Interesting Juxtaposition of Stories ...
... at Dave Hartline's Catholic Report (August 16, 2007).
First, there's the story of a Dutch Catholic Bishop with a history of dissident teaching (e.g., condom promotion) who has encouraged the Catholic faithful in Europe to pray to God as "Allah" in order to promote a better relationship between Catholics and Muslims (but Heaven forbid that the Catholic faithful should want to refer to God as "Dominus Deus").
Followed by a story from Sandro Magister recounting how 800 men at Otranto were martyred and saved Rome from Islamic forces in 1480, specifically so that the Catholic faithful in Europe would not have to pray to God as "Allah".
